And It's Not Even My Birthday

BUT It was.

The month leading up to my birthday I had my annual life crisis. You know the one: I'm not married, is this something that will happen, is this something that I even want to happen? And kids. Do I even want those? Am I running out of time? What am I doing with my life?

Don't worry, I pulled myself together by the time the big day rolled around and I am currently not experiencing too much anxiety about the above questions.

It was a wonderful day of celebrating me! Kara kicked it off with a midnight text. Dad called my on the way to work. Holly got me a balloon. Matthew got me a donut. Laura a card and macaroon towel that I considered trying to eat. I brought chocolate/chocolate cupcakes. Mom sent me texts, ecards, chocolate covered strawberries, cheesecake, and chocolate covered oreos. Bennida gave me a Christmas bag filled with Reese's and Asian candy. I also received cards from Ashley and Kate.

BUT the best gift award goes to B. She gave me a Husband Hunting kit that was loaded with inside jokes and encouragement. I'm glad she pointed out there was a card, otherwise I would have been a little lost.
Me & B

Jess, Amanda, and Mandy picked me up on the way to my bday dinner so I could catch them up on the last 7 days of my life and such.

After a two hour wait, and Rick working his magic, we were finally seated. It was so nice to have most of my favorite people there.

Our first bar stop was Shot Bar. Typical. Between Amanda, Taffan, and the randos, I managed to have about 7 shots in about 30 min and promptly cut myself off for the night.

At Wonderbar I slammed 4 waters and thought I was going to throw up. Unfortunately I didn't...and ended up sending myself home before midnight.

Matthew was kind enough to get me home safely - which was needed because I remember having trouble recalling my address...and not being able to unlock the door. Def one of my prouder moments. I remember most of our conversation, questions, and answers on the ride home because I was trying so hard to focus...so I hope I'm not blocking out anything awkward that I may have done. Because, let's face it, I'm awkward and straight forward enough without drinking.

Once inside I promptly went to bed, laid across it, and passed out. I woke about an hour later when Mike randomly called me. I think I may have answered "Hello. This is Jessica. Jessica Aragon. Did you mean to call me?" We don't usually talk, so I needed to verify. It was a good convo, but I think I was a little snide with some of my comments. I didn't expect that because I don't have any animosity when it comes to him.

The next day I texted B and she picked me up for breakfast...because I was still drunk.

It was a great birthday...and a reminder of why I typically opt out of drinking.

26 was good, but I think this year will be even better!

Theme: Naked Wasted

It really didn't get that wild. I must be maturing with age or something.
So we celebrated my 26th year.

Before my Saturday gym time (and new release day!!!) I met up with Laura at the Farmer's Market and she bought me birthday macaroons! They had some new flavors that were pretty good: Poppy and Orange Burst. yumm! I ended up going back for seconds.

Since I was properly fueled (I seriously need to not eat macaroons before I work out), I hit up new release day. When I got home from the gym I quickly rinsed off and changed so I could meet Kari, R, and Abbers for a late lunch in Katy. I hadn't seen them in a while, so it was really good to catch up. Abby speaks Spanish & English, and was talking so much! It was so cute. I think a highlight was everyone singing the Veggie Tales song with Abby. After lunch I headed home and took a nap. I was super tired from staying out late the night before and getting up early for the Farmer's Market and new release at the gym. I was starting to get cranky and was considering not showing up to my celebrations with the girls that night.

After forcing myself out of bed, I hopped in the shower and got ready to some of my favorite dance songs. Rihanna, David Guetta, and Benny Benassi always know how to cheer me up!

I had dinner with B, Taffan, and McCall at Gloria's. It replaced Ruby Tequila's in midtown...but never in my heart! The chicken quesadillas were good, but I wasn't feeling the chips. I would eat there again, but not at my own suggestion. The girls told the waiter it was my bday and asked if they sang. They don't, but she brought me flan. Flan! This was actually the first time I'd tried it, and I didn't love it. No one did really. So I messed with it to make it look like we ate it. Did anyone else ever do that when they were younger? So the bill came and they tried to charge us for the flan. Ummm...we didn't order this, you just brought it over! And if we were going to get charged then we would have ordered something good! The girls got it sorted with the waitress and it was taken off. Sweet! (because that flan sure wasn't.)

concentrating hard on my wish. Does it make it more likely to come true it you wish it every time?

First stop: Shot Bar! We were there so early that they had the house lights on. It was weird. We had some shots that were sugary sweet, a mini dance party, then headed out to Wonderbar.

Taff, B, McCall, Me

Wonderbar was also a little empty when we got there since it was about 10. But the music was so good! More drinks, lots of dancing. There were some rando guys taking pictures of us when we were dancing. B took care of that. How creepy? We are pretty cool, but not stalker warranting cool.
No, the creepers didn't take this picture.
I decided to stop drinking at the second bar because I wanted to make sure I'd be good to go for BodyFlow in the morning. But the dance party continued.

Me & McCall
We ended the night at Red Door. This is usually my fave place to go dancing, but their music selection just wasn't doing it for me. I haven't been in months, so I'm either behind the times or we just grew apart.

Me & Taffan

26 was a decent year...but I think the next will be even better!

The Celebration Of Me

So the birthday.

I considered doing this as a throwback post and having my mom share my birth story...but figured that was a little ott.

On my bday I'm very adamant about doing everything that I love...like I do most days. I don't make people join in, it's more of a day date/anniversary with myself. But this day, being the anniversary of my birth, does have extra perks!

B started out the day great when she gave me the best Twilight bday card ever!

I made one of my fave things for breakfast - cinnamon toast. I don't have this often because let's be honest, it's terrible for you. But every now and then I like to indulge.

Next up? work. Ok, so this isn't like my fave thing to do, and I would have had a lot of fun taking the day off and hanging with Brittany & Emma (and maybe even Kari and Abby if she was off), but figured I'd much rather show up and share my birthday bliss in the form of cupcakes with my coworkers.

So I brought these:

I'm totally the best, right?

My Mom, Sam, & Marshall sent me a delicious chocolate covered strawberry edible arrangement with some balloons. How sweet! And it was soo good! After eating close to 10 strawberries, I shared it with my coworkers.

Then I got the most delicious smelling flowers from Grandma & Papa. They were so pretty and the scent filled the room. They must have have been genetically altered by the Capitol because they smelt unlike any that I'd ever had before.

My birthday was on a Thursday so I opted to move my celebration to Saturday (Croc's bday festivities were scheduled for Friday).

So I continued on with my "I do what I want" plan and hit up the gym after work for some BodyJam! This was also my one year anniversary of attending Quality Life Fitness, so I really couldn't have it any other way!

After a sweat sesh I picked up RA Sushi on my way home. They have the best vegetable tempura roll and pineapple cream cheese wantons. I.die.
I talked to my family and watched the latest episode of Dallas.

Not a bad birthday! But I def can't wait for the dancing that will ensure on Saturday!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yep. Today I am a year older and wiser? Sure, whatever. Let's go with that.

What have I learned this year? I think it's pretty obvious that I haven't learned much.

Last year I celebrated my actual bday by cashing in my groupon and trying out Quality Life Fitness for the first time ever with Jess. I believe we did BodyJam, and went into the jungle and had our lives forever changed! Don't worry, I'm not totally workout crazed - I had dinner and dancing with my friends that Friday...after Jess and I went to BodyFlow.

So naturally, being the creature of habit that I tend to be, I will be spending my birthday evening at BodyJam once again. I may get really out of control and pick up sushi on the way home...we'll see.

Of course there will be a celebration with friends, but that will be going down Saturday night - dinner, drinks, and lots of dancing.

I made my fave chocolate cupcakes so my coworkers could celebrate with me...and continue to like me. (Recipe share next week!) I feel bad because Laura offered to make my cake, and I turned her down. It's not that I didn't appreciate the gesture, because I truly did, it's just that I get so much satisfaction out of doing it myself. Plus, she's into eating primal, and there is nothing primal in a cupcake. She might have ended up bringing me a steak with a candle in it!

And now 26 fun facts about me!
  1. Just kidding. I've got nothing.
And finally: To my mom who was in labor with me for many many hours,. You are welcome for being worth the hard work! haha. But seriously, I was totally worth it, right?

9.03.2011

So...I turned 25 last month.

What, people live to be that old?

Yes, yes they do.

I'm not going to lie, it hurt a little bit. I hate to sound crazy (I guess that's a lie if you have been reading my posts), but I did cry a couple of times in the two weeks leading up to it. Don't worry, I'm fine now.

The girls at work decorated my cube and taped a lot of the stuff on my desk down. It was actually pretty funny. Edward was even excited about it!
What? You don't have a picture of Edward on your computer too? Weird.
We had team lunch at Cheesecake Factory to celebrate with a Zack Morris look a like waiter. I wanted to ask him where his huge phone was, but I don't think anyone besides Stacy would have found that amusing. Stacy said she almost called me at midnight to say “your life is over” and hang up. That would have been hilarious, but I might have agreed and cried. (yes, I’m aware that 25 isn’t the end of the world, geez. I’m just a little dramatic sometimes).
Happy Birthday to me, bitches!

That evening Jes and I went to our first BodyJam class to celebrate the big 25 and we met BodyPump Brian. And fell in love. Haha.

The big celebration went down that Friday, and B sent me this that morning: (678): ever have one of those nights where you feel like you should leave the house with your insurance card? that is tonight, my friend.

I love her. She totes gets me! And yes, we did have our insurance cards with us, just in case it got outta control!

I was so happy to have all of the girls come out! I’m sure it was torturous for some of them since they don’t like the kind of bars that B and I do, but they didn’t complain since it was my bday. Thanks for taking one for the team girls!

Jesi, Mandy, Mandy, Me, B, Kat, Sonya
Steven was the only husband that showed up. I’m sure he had an awesome time chaperoning us! hahaha. Paul and Rick even stopped by for a bit! We even ran into Daniel. That was a little awkward but not terrible. But I don’t do well with unexpected things.
Thanks for coming Steven!
We had dinner at Ruby’s (duh, where else), went to Wonder bar, and ended our night at Red Door (thanks for not giving us any probs, Edward Scissor Hands). The whole night was basically a dance party with lots of shots. The theme may or may not have been "Let's get naked wasted."
H-town H-yeah girls!
