This Is Happening - I Have The Fever

The Bieber Fever that is.

New album out today. And yes, I bought it on Amazon at midnight. And yes, I am already loving it!

I would be lying if I said I was a fan from the beginning. At first I was like "who is this baby with bangs. I'm too old for this." I started getting the fever when I first heard Baby. I don't know what it is about that song, but I love it.

Before I knew it I was buying the album and tickets to see him in concert (which was amazing, btw).

And you know I saw Never Say Never when it came out. I actually went with Brittany on a day I had off...we were the only two people at the showing (it was a morning on a Friday and it had been out a while) which really just enhanced the movie because we could openly sing and dance in our chairs. Brittany even danced down the aisle when she came back from the bathroom!

And when it came out on DVD, I bought it the first day. I actually had a flight to NY that day and I know the guy beside me enjoyed my singing and dancing as I watched it. I could tell from his awkward side glances.

Just so we are clear, I don't love the Biebs in a "I want to be your gf and send death threats to Selena Gomez" kind of way. I just like his music and think he's adorbs. And I'm all about him dating Selena. They are presh to death! Plus, he looks like a mini Stefan (TVD), and how could you not love that?

And just because, I shared some of my fave online non-music videos of his.
SNL - Roommate

With Jimmy Fallon

And finally, Justin is all grown up. Check out this video. Which I love, duh!

Dear Justin, Please add more tour dates. I promise I won't be so stingy about the price this time...even though I think it's a little jacked up that you are requiring me to join your fan club to make the purchase. Lesson learned. xx, Jes

YOLO - Drizzy Drake

Drake came to Austin back in February. I so so irritated with him that he would come all the way to Texas, but not make a Houston stop. Especially when he claims Houston is like his second home. What the effff?

All was forgiven in March when he announced his full tour that included Houston! I was so psyched and emailed B, Jess, and Steven automatically. B couldn't make it, but J+S were down!

In preparation for the concert I turned all baking times into Drake & Bake. And he finalllllllly released the video to "Take Care," and it's amazing!

Finally concert day was here! It had been so long since our last sister wives date, so I was extra excited. Any by so long, I really mean we had just gone to Olive Garden (gotta keep it real) after our Monday workout.

After work I headed over to The Grove to meet S+J for dinner. Jess' time frame was a bit off, so I was probably there 45min to an hour before they showed up. I really didn't mind the waiting because I had a terrible day so it was nice to just sit there in silence (although I'm sure having them there would have cheered me up even faster). My only complaint is that I was there over 25 min without anyone trying to take my order. I might want to get an appetizer or something! So I finally grabbed the water guy and he tracked me down a waiter. I went ahead and ordered all of our meals and they showed up about 5 min after S+J arrived. Great timing!

Drake had at least 100 people open for him (I was waiting in line to get my concert tee for most of them), but I managed to catch J Cole. I only knew one song, not that impressed...Drake please!

After the longest wait of my life Drake hit the stage! He sounded so good! And I must say we were shocked when he lifted his shirt and was actually pretty cut. I always thought Drake would be pretty soft, so that was a surprise. Actually it was just weird and thought provoking. We probably talked about it for 5min after the concert trying to figure out why his abs were so trim, but his arms didn't look like he lifted more than a mic. Hmmm...

Anyway. The concert was pretty good! The lights were a nice touch and he had good crowd interaction. He played all of my fave songs (except for "Practice") and even some old mix-tape stuff that I had never heard.

But the best part? Watching Steven in full on rapper mode. I'm pretty sure that he knew the words to every song. I didn't even know all of the words to every song when I saw B.Spears, and you know how much I love her!

It was so entertaining to watch. I tried to record it, but he didn't fit in the frame since he was right next to me. I really hope that S changes his career aspirations because I'd love to be in the crew. If anyone can deflate someones ego, it's def me, and he'll probably need that once he gets super successful. S - get to workin on your flows!

I think Jess had a great time...Instagraming pictures of the concert.

Another cool part? The 20 min long shout out portion. He would focus on one area and start calling out people he could see and sometimes he'd say funny stuff. One of my faves was "I love you too. Know that shit."

I would def see Drake again, but I will not be joining S in the front row. I love drake, but only $50 worth.

Florence + The Machine

This whole week has been a little stressful, but I've managed. And then today happened.  Between stress and hormones the perfect storm was brewing. ick. Most of the time if my feelings get hurt or if someone is irritating me I can just brush it off and not give attitude in return. Not today. Today was one of those "Do you know what I hate today...other than everything?" days. Well, not until after lunch. I may have also had a mini cry sesh. That was awkward.

Daniel sent me this which made me laugh.

I was already pretty stoked about F+TM, but even more so since I had rage flowing through my veins. Jess picked me up from work and we shared a nice dinner at Ziggy's. I had never been, but it was pretty legit. We shared the spinach artichoke dip and the spa salad - because I know you were dying to know. I filled her in on my day and what had me raging. I love when I tell someone something and they give me shock face at all the right moments. Jes did this to perfection today. I'm so glad we were on the same page. It made me feel more sane.

We headed to the concert, got some souveniers, and unwanted attitude from the girls by us in line. She's pretty lucky I didn't throw some bows attitude her way. And then it was time for Flo...after whoever that was that opened.

She came on and it was like the heavens parted and rained down peace, fluff, candy, and pure joy. She was everything I had wanted/expected and more. She sounds even better live than she does on the CD. So in love right now.

I basically feel in love with Flo the first time I heard Cosmic Love. It was used in The Vampire Diaries campaign back in 2010. That is one of my all time favorites! We got to the end of the concert and she didn't play it. I was really dissapointed..but it was part of her two song encore! My night was complete.

Her singing voice is so strong and powerful, it was weird to hear her speaking voice the way it was so soft and delicate.

Great concert. I will def go see her again!

Every Day I'm Shufflin

My shuffle. I can't workout without it. I can't get ready in the morning without it. I can't make it through the day without it. I.can't.live.without.it!

During BodyPump, the music is provided, and most days it's good. But every now and then I find myself giving Brian the "WTF is this music, and how do you expect this to get me pumped?" face.

That face is a slightly softer version of my "You said we could handle more weight but now I can't lift my bar" face. Just ask Jes, that one could kill. In those moments, I wish I had snuck in my shuffle.

Anyway, when I'm doing cardio, running, or anything else, I need some jams to keep me pumped.

If I'm going on a long run I'll set up my play list to be 3 upbeat songs, then 1 mellow. This helps to give me a mental break because my breathing can often get caught up in the fast beats.

So what am I listening to now? I'm glad you asked because I have picked out a few of my faves so they can become your faves too! You're welcome.

  • Louder Than Words (feat. Niles Mason) [Radio Edit] - David Guetta & Afrojack

A few more?
OK.

If you don't already have those, you should get them now! I download mostly from Amazon. Their songs are usually a little less and they have loads of good deals on whole albums. Why pay more when you don't have to?

Any good song suggestions? Please share!

Now that we have music covered, don't be lazy and go work out!

The 5K That Didn't Happen

Yesterday was the first time I had signed up for a race and not run it...frustrating.

Friday night I battled the traffic for 1.5hrs to get to the expo and packet pick up in the Woodlands. The expo was alright, I got some (hopefully) pretty sweet insoles...they were out of my size so I had them ordered.

I thought the race started at 7:30a, so I set my alarm for 5:45 so I could review the parking info and leave by 6:20. Yeah, I got up, ate, got dressed, finally I opened the info to review, turns out it starts at 7! AHHHH! I was confusing this start time with my next race. I got in my car, went speeds that are not eco friendly for Matil the Prius, and made it with 5min to park and get to the start. Yeah, it takes more than 5 min for that stuff. So I turned around and made the 40min drive back home at went to Memorial park for 5miles.

Anyway, my run at the park went well. The temp was really nice and it was a little windy.

I ran to these songs all from "Born To Die" by Lana Del Rey:

  • Dark Paradise
  • National Anthem
  • Diet Mountain Dew
Last month her CD was on the Amazon $5 list, so I got it after previewing a few songs, and I love it! It's all that I've been listening to at home, while driving, and working out this past week.

So yeah, you should totes buy it right now! Seriously!

Little Kid Things

ok. If you know me, you know I have some interests that would be more fitting of a 14 year old girl (at least according to Daniel). I have been watching the Disney Channel ever since we had it. When I was in Jr. High Andrew, my younger brother, and I loved the Disney Channel original movies. Zenon and Johnnie Tsunami were two of our favorites. I still enjoy their original movies, although Andrew has outgrown them.

In highschool I loved Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens. I actually went to see The Lizzie McGuire Movie when it was in theaters and sang the soundtrack with Kayla.

Now I am mourning the end of Hannah Montannah (it grew on me over the years), savoring Selena Gomez's last season on Wizards of Waverly Place, and eagerly awaiting what Sonny with a Chance will do since Demi Lovato is in a rehabish type thing.

Daniel teases me about my selection in TV shows (I also watch some shows on CW and ABC family), but that's not going to stop me from watching.

I still have a love of pop music. Bieber fever, Jo Bros, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, I love them all! Don't get me wrong, I love other bands, but these are some of my faves.

Is it so wrong that I like these things?

Do you like things that shoud be below your maturity level?
