Life Coach Croc

Croc, Adam, & I have kind of become our own wolf pack.

It happened naturally because we:
1. are all single so we have free time to hang.
2. all love Halo.
3. like to hit up Wild West.

This particular Thursday the three of us hit up Wild West. As I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before, this is Croc's least favorite time to go because the lady selection is very low. Which makes it my fave time to go because it's not too crowded so there's always room to do spins, and we are usually the best dancers there! (I love being the best!)

The dancing was fabulous! I was doing so good that Croc accused me of coming to Wild West without them! As if I could even do that - none of my other friends are really into the country dancing thing.

As the night wore on I 1. got a brief history about gun registration that led into Hitler and his war strategy. Very educational because I like history, just not enough to really remember the details of it. 2. Croc basically designated himself as my life coach.

He made some good points:
  • How are you going to find a husband if you won't put yourself out there?
  • He told me how pretty I am and how I have so much to offer. (I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks so).
But then he almost got slapped when he said that him & Adam weren't going to dance with me because it's time I put myself out there...then he attempted to pick up my chair (with me in it) so he could place me by the dance floor until I danced with a stranger.

He then decided that it must be a self confidence issue. Thanks? But it's actually not that at all. I'm very confident in myself and what I have to offer. In fact, I feel bad for anyone that's missing out.

The problem is this: I'm stubborn. When I decide on something, it's all that I want. I can't be bothered with anything else during this time, so I just wait Wait to die, wait to live, wait for an absolution which would never come while I figure out what the eff I'm supposed to do when I can't have it. So I've been waiting for this one track mind set to pass.

Exactly. Damon knows best.

After thinking about Croc's life coaching for a few days and Damon reminding me of what I want, I knew what I had to do. I came up with a new plan that involves me actually not being so off putting and closed off if/when boys try to talk to me. But until I find the new winner of my love and affection I have plenty of friends and activities to keep me busy and mostly fulfilled.

Do You Know What I Hate Today, Other Than Everything?

Daniel was in Houston for a wedding shower so we hung out a bit. I had been starting way too many sentences with "Do you know what I hate today, other than everything?" so figured it wouldn't hurt to talk through my current and ongoing issues. He's actually gotten a lot better at giving advice and calming me down when things are bad. I guess he finally realized that "It'll work out" or "everything happens for a reason" are not acceptable responses when I am in crisis mode, unless you can explain how it'll work out, and what is that reason. It only took 6+ years for him to catch on. (slow much, D?)

He took me to lunch at RA. I think I even let him pick, but he knew what I really wanted, so that's where we went... (It would have been Ruby Tequila's but they closed the midtown location in the fall. I'm still heart broken over that.) Since we were at RA I asked if he had been reading my blog and saw the one about sushi making. I don't remember if he had, whatever, but he did mention that sometimes he reads it and he gets confused because he'll read about something that he's pretty sure I actually did weeks ago.

Yeah, I actually do that a lot. The reason is this: I love to write this stuff down and document my life/whatever it is I write about . BUT I’m not always in a writing mode. When I force it I can't hear my voice when I read it back and I hate that. It's like reading a strangers words. Then I'll get bit by the blog bug and have tons of things to write about, but I really don't want to post 5 longs posts in one day then go MIA for weeks. So I just write when I feel like it and schedule posts to go up every two days (usually). I know that's probably weird (but most things that I do are), I just hate when there is a blog that I’m reading and all of a sudden they go off the map for weeks! It drives me crazy! Do I think anyone reads this regularly other than me? Probably not. It just makes me feel better. Plus, since I subscribe to my own blog through Google Reader (narcissistic much?) I'm always delighted when I see a new post and I can reminisce about the good times…from a few weeks ago. Like today, I was pretty sure I had something scheduled, but I didn't know when or what it was going to be about. I kept checking back and it finally appeared! And it was the S'mores post. I loved reading it and reliving those memories from March. And now I'm thinking about either making s'mores bars (which would be a bad idea for my body) or seeing if S+J want to roast out!

ANYWAY, While we were on the blog topic D told me that one of his friends reads it and asked him if he knew that I sometimes wrote about him and made him sound like an ass. My response? Umm…but you are an ass. I mean, I like you, but let's be honest. If you are an active participant in my life, then you probably know why I would feel this way about Daniel (honestly, I don't know what all I've said about him on here, but it's all true!), if you aren't then you probably think I'm a terrible person. I'm not, promise.

BUT that doesn’t mean he's ALL bad, obviously because we still talk and hang out when he's in town. Even though we aren't dating we still have a close friendship of sorts and he's been there for me a lot when he was no longer obligated to be. He was there for me with the Andrew thing, he even came to the funeral which was probably awkward for him , due to the obvious funeral aspects , but also because although my family likes him as a person, they are less than pleased with him in the love interest area.

The moral of the story is: Daniel is a person that I love, but sometimes just love to hate.

OH, and sometimes he's funny (but not as funny as I am!). We were at CVS and I was looking at the magazines (he had already bought me Health...because I asked, he said no, so I put it on the counter with his stuff anyway. Yes, that did just happen.) and I asked if I could have another. He looked at me like I was cray. So I said, "what if I want the one with Jennifer Love Hewitt on there." He said maybe….anyway, he starts talking about how she's one of his favorites, but his second favorite is Jessica. I interrupt with "Aragon." He says, "Alba . Definitely Alba." I couldn't stop laughing. He totally baited me and I took it.

Valentine's Day Cliche

Valentine's is one of my fave holidays.

No I don't think you need one day a year to celebrate love...because you should celebrate all year. Duh!

Buutttt...It's nice to have one day where you fo sho are going to celebrate.

I love it when my Valentine's day is filled with as many cheesetastic cliche things as possible! I'm not talking things that sparkle, I'm more into flowers, cards, and candy on this day of love. That's the way to my heart. And the cheesier the card, the better. Oh, but do feel free to write about the serious and not so serious reasons that you love me so.

Since I'm lacking in the whole having a valentine this year area, I'm going to be my own.

Is that weird? No, it's not that weird. Ok, maybe it is. Do you know me? Then you shouldn't be so surprised.

I love myself so I deserve to treat myself right! You bet I'm going to buy flowers for my #1 girl (tha'd be me). Oh, and her fave sweets...good thing I know her so well. And a card? DUH!* I'll probably even swing by RA to pick up her current fave eats on the way home from the gym.

*Side Note: When I buy things online I always send a note with it, especially if I'm buying something for myself. For ex:
  • Jes, I saw these and thought they would look great on you. xoxo, Jes

The point is 1. Vday is awesome when it's cheesetastic, 2. just because you are single doesn't mean this day has to be a reminder that you are alone (because that would be such a downer!), 3. Feel free to send me flowers, cards, and candy in exchange for me loving you forever. xoxo.

Well, I could think of one person other than myself...

ugh

Last weekend I helped Daniel move out of his apartment. The place that was also my home until I had to moved out about 6 months ago.

It felt weird. I cried a bit.

Even though we've been broken up for a while and we are friendsish, sometimes I'm still caught off guard by it.

It was sad to see the apt practically empty. I can still remember when we first looked at it, signed the lease, and moved in. Everything was so different then. Hopeful. Optimistic.

I don't recall crying when I moved out. Maybe it's because I had 3 months of living with Cole and Brittany to adjust to the idea. I don't know.

It's sad saying goodbye to the only place in Houston that has ever felt like home.

Ok. Do you remember doing love calculators in you notebooks instead of taking notes? Playing MASH in home room? or creating a paper fortune teller so you would know which boy you would kiss? Well, it turns out none of that stuff comes true when you are using JTT, Devon Sawa (who is still totally cute and on a few episodes of Nikita), Jonathan Jackson, and Rider Strong. Who knew??

Anyway, I found this awesome online (we didn't have this kind of technology back in the day) love calculator. And since it's online, it must be totally legit. Right?

Check it out here. It compares many of your signs: astrological, Chinese, mode, element, planet, and gives you the deets about that person. Again, obviously legit.

FYI. out of the three Rider is my best match at 88%. I love you Shawn Hunter!

So if you are having a love conundrum, let the Love Calculator be your guide.

***although it's usually a credible source, it can sometimes say you are 94% compatible and be wrong. Those are very rare circumstances.
