Call Me Maybe? No.

My friends have finally moved their social time from day drinking to going out at night = dancing = I'm more than willing to join in!

Friday we had a champagne meeting at work. I didn't even have a whole glass, but enough to make me choose nap time over gym time.

So I stopped by Target on the way home (in an effort to stay awake and rethink the gym part) then headed home for a 1 hour nap..that turned into 3. I woke up to Laura calling asking something about Southwest and PTO. I have no idea. I was so dissoriented.

Around 9 Bri texted to see where the heck I was since I had assisted in peer pressuring him to go out with us...and then I wasn't even there. I threw on a skirt & heels, touched up my makeup, ate, then was out the door. When I got there I was surprised that it wasn't more of a shit show! Almost everyone had been there since about 4p. But it was still a pretty good show! Some guy called Taffan dumb...bad move. I've never seen her so fired up before! I'm not sure how to handle her like there, so I let B take over.

A little after getting there I was told that in 30min they were heading to a party at Aaron's house. Yeah, that's not what I signed up for...so I headed home and watched Inception. I could have stayed out with the other guys, but they looked like they were more interested in picking up girls than hanging out with me. Totally weird, right?

Saturday was my regular routein: run, macarons, gym.

Then Saturday night I met up with B, Brian, & Taffy so we could hit up midtown for Jason's bday.

On our walk over this guy yelled at Brian how he's the man because he had not one but three fine honeys. Yep. It was pretty funny.

We hit up Celtic & Pub Fiction. We drank, we danced. It was great!

A few things:
  • One trick that I've learned when out is to stand really close to your guy friend so that potential pursuers will not be able to tell if you are with him with him, or not. It was pretty successful and only a few strangers approached. The problem is when you are with a big group and they are all friends with Brian, so they are aware that he's actually dating someone that's not you, so they feel the need to try and chat me up. Ummm, no.
  • As a guy walks by me "Hi, I'm (name here, because I don't even know). What's your name?" I answered and shook hands. "What's your number?" Shoulder shrug. "Are you serious?" "Yeah, I literally just met you." "And this is crazy." "No." - shut down. I will give him credit for trying to work in 'Call me maybe?" and I'm sure someone else went for it, but not me.
source
  • Just because I'm dancing and Brian only refers to me as stripper does not mean you can dance on me. You can dance near me, that's fine. But DO NOT just assume you can touch me.
  • Some pocket sized guy tries to chat up B. She wasn't havin it. He keeps attempting. She gives Brian the look. So he becomes our bouncer and tells the guy that we are with him and we just want to dance so he needs to move.
  • The last song of the night was 'Too Close' (one of my faves!) but BriBri ushered us out like he was our father when we were still trying to dance!
  • "I will literally roll out of this car and die." Jenna, you are so funny. I had no idea!
They dropped me off at my car (Trust, I only had a few drinks and water most of the night because I was really just there to dance and had yoga plans in the morning.) on their way to the after party. I was so tired and my feet were swelling so I opted to go home. In my college days I had no problem staying up all night and still getting to work at 8. There was one week in the summer that we would stay up until 5a, then I'd go to work and class at 8a. I was probably more functional than everyone else because I was drinking water and not beer (eww-def not a beer girl) those nights.

Anyway. I got in my car and was turning on my ipod and selecting a drive mix when some guy (possibly homeless) noticed me, stopped in the middle of the street and started dancing for me. Hilarious!

Then I got home, watched Bridesmaids, read, then went to sleep. So really, I probably could have gone to the after party because I was up until after 3...oh well.

I really have missed dance parties with B & Taffy Tafferton (the origional heart hands vault members). So I'm excited for them to continue!

"Are We Getting Kidnapped Or What?"

On our way home, the boys started talking about going to Aaron's to play pool. I love to play pool, but figured I'd let B decided for us. I was honestly shocked when she said "Ok" because it was wayyy past BJ House bedtime. So We headed to the heights to play some rounds.

Here's some of the things that may or may not have come out of my mouth during the ride:
  • Are we getting kidnapped or what?
  • I checked us in on facebook so my mom knows where I am if anything happens.
  • I'm going to text my dad your descriptions just in case you try anything funny.
  • I will not hesitate to break a bottle and stab you in the neck for self defense.
  • Are you going to roofie me? I'm not going to take any drink or food if you offer.
And I'm sure there were many others. I know. I'm such a peach. I don't know if they took me seriously or not, but I was mostly kidding.

Here's the deal. This was the first time I'd met these boys, and I know B had met Aaron a time or two before. But just because they are Brian's friends doesn't mean much. Brian is one of the nicest people ever and basically will turn everyone he meets into his friend (obviously if I didn't feel safe then we would have taken a cab home, duh). The next day I was asking B how he knew these guys and it turns out they had been friends for years and through context clues we concluded that they probably know each other from high school. And I obviously survived to tell about it, so it was fine.

We played two rounds of pool. I did pretty decent at first (I can't even remember the last time I played), but B & Aaron won. But the next round we dominated. I may have trash talked, and B would just laugh and say how funny and competitive I am. At least she knows!

After the second game everyone loaded up and Aaron took us home.

The next morning B and I went to freebirds for an early lunch (best recovery meal ever). It was a great time...until B saw a rat. She literally saw this rat jump from the floor to the table to the top of the deconstructed brick wall. I only noticed once I saw him scurry across the top of the brick. That thing was huge! We promptly left and I don't think I'll be visiting that particular location anytime soon. ick.

Friends Forever with BriBri

After I got hired with my current company B took me to lunch with them. Brian was the first (and possibly only) person that introduced himself to me (I did already know about half of the people I was going to work with). He is just so nice. And once I started work he would always stop by to chat on his way to and from the bathroom ( I sit in the front, so everyone passes me). But our friendship became solidified during our AGM trip to NYC. He is just so crazy. We ended up wondering around the city for the first half of the day (most everyone else was at the basketball game or shopping), then met up with the coworkers at The Ainsworth. He's always looking out for me when we go out and makes sure I don't get kidnapped.

No, this isn't a love story. BriBri is more like an older brother and dating one of my friends.

Anyway....

I was looking for friendship redemption since I had missed Brian's birthday because of personal stuff. We had plans to go out and Bri said that if I didn't come then he might friend dump me, so B & I pulled ourselves together and got a taxi (after we called to replace the first taxi that didn't show up) and got to midtown around 11.

When we got there Bri was a little wobbly and was having some trouble keeping his eyes open. I made sure to get a pic with him so I could prove I was there because I had little faith that he would remember the next day. It was so good to see him for about 15 min before he called it a night and got walked home. It's been so long that I'm pretty sure he doesn't remember my real name and only refers to me as Stripper. I actually find it funny, so I don't mind.

Well, the show must go on because B and I just got there. So we headed over to Shot Bar with Brian's friends. The line was hella long and we didn't have connections there so we hit up Red Door next because I just wanna dance! Well....everyone got in except one of the boys because he wore shorts. Armature move. We had a drink then relocated to Wonder Bar so everyone could participate in the fun.

B and I were dancing and some rando came in the door and started dancing on us. I had really missed B the enforcer, so I was glad she showed up. She popped her little elbow up then extended her arm to move him out of the way and gave him the head shake. #mommabearclaw. He came back over a few min later and said "I told my friends y'all don't want to dance. It's done." Errrr....ok.

We took the dance party to the next level once Taffy & Jenna showed up!
Taffy, B, Jenna, & Me (B's Photo)

Around closing time we all headed over to Brian's. He just loved getting woken up. At least I was kind and played the big spoon instead of just jumping on him like a few of the others did. He seemed confused.

Once he seemed a little irritated, we left. Aaron (Brian's friend) offered to take us home but the adventure didn't stop there.

The Most Double Non Date Ever

I had invited a few people to dinner...but only Adam & April, and Croc could attend.

So Friday I met Adam & April, and Croc at Lupe Tortilla for Dinner. Croc and I split Fajitas (which were so delish) and he paid for dinner (whapshhhh)...in exchange for me taking care of his drinks that night.

While the boys got caught up talking about politics or something that April & I weren't into, we chatted on the side. The more I hang out with April the more I like her. Good pick Adam!

Croc was supposed to have a real date/concert thing after dinner...but he got dumped. Ok, he didn't get dumped, but whatever. So we all decided to meet up with Kylekins, his parents, and some more friends.

I dropped my car off, consulted with B on the dangers of taking my muscle relaxer and drinking (I have to take them with food, but I had a drink with dinner, yeah). She said I wouldn't die or anything, so I took them since I wouldn't be driving the rest of the night. (Please note that I do not promote this behavior, because you might die even though I didn't). Luckily it continued to have the same effect on me as when I'm not drinking-None. Yay!

So Croc picked me up and we headed to Volcano. I sat on the bench with A&A and Croc sat with Kyle. Kyle's mom was insisting that she could still talk to Croc if he was sitting on the other bench (by me), but I don't think Croc was catching the fact that she thought we were together together. So I chatted with April and continued to weave our friendship bracelet.

Kyle's mom was so kind as to buy us a round of drinks. I don't remember the technical name, but it was basically a frozen rum and Coke. When someone buys you a drink, it can be quite the tricky situation because you feel obligated to drink it even if you don't like it. This was one of those times. I don't really like coke, or rum it turns out (unless it's Malibu!), so I waited until it melted and chugged it. As we were leaving I met Kyle's dad and he asked if I was with Croc. Croc was sitting by me at this point, so he told him that we are just friends. Which is accurate, but the way he said it was as if he was ashamed at the though of otherwise. Way offensive Crocadilly! But was is far more offensive is the way that it was so apparent that Kyle had never mentioned me to his parents. WTH? We used to hang out all the time! My parents know about you, even if they can't identify your name. I digress...

We headed over the Baker Street Bar (maybe? I don't really know, I don't go to these bars often). On the walk over I serenaded Croc with the Aggie fight song. And then he feel in love. He didn't really fall in love, but he was surprised that I knew it.

Someone scored us the large connect four so we entertained ourselves with that for a bit. I played Kyle's dad in a death match that he ended up winning. Sucks for me. We played, we drank, we chatted. Then Croc dropped me off on his way home...after arguing about which Lonely Island song is best: Natalie's Rap or Mother Lover. Umm? Natalie's Rap, duh!

It was a good time. This is not my typical night out because I am a lover of dance! BUT since my back is still healing, I must take it slow and enjoy these more laid back nights out.

And Croc, you are welcome for not making it totally awkward by calling you "Babe" and acting like you were denying our love. I know how easily you can get flustered.

It Tasted Like Church Punch. I Love Church Punch!

Yeah, slept through my alarm again. My body must have needed some extra sleep. I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer to try out the new running shoes :(

I started out my day in the kitchen listening to Drake and finishing up the cinamon rolls. Even though I wasn't with my mom on Mother's Day, I still dedicated this breakfast to her. I know, I really shouldn't have.

I was about 15min early for the mani/pedi appointment, and none of the shops were open yet (it was 10:45a)...except for the oil change place across the street. It was like fate shined down on Matilda and saved her life! I won't even tell you how long it had been since I got her oil changed...or when her inspection went out...oh, and the registration (which I've had the sticker in my car for months a while, but was waiting for the inspection so they could scrape off the old one and put the new one on).

I checked-in for our appointment and Jessica (oh, that felt weird saying her full name) was a few min behind me. After picking out our colors (Big Apple Red, what else?) we got seated and had a Mimosa in hand within seconds. I honestly don't even like Mimosas, but I'll take it if it's offered. And? It was actually pretty good. It reminded me of church punch. Yummm! So I proceeded to have 5...or only half of the first one because I was too busy talking to Jess. It had been forever since we'd hung out...or 14 hours, whatevs.

After that wonderful 1.5 hours of relaxation Jess headed off to Mother's day activities with Steven (thanks for sharing your wife!) and I headed to Express, Pole, and the grocery store.

When I got home, I attempted to finish the special features on Breaking Dawn, but my body demanded a nap after that intense pole sesh.

That night I cooked dinner, and watched The Vow with B. It's alright. I'd seen it in the theater, but took a mini nap (what? I can't always endure late night movies.), so I wanted to see if I had missed anything important. I hadn't. At least they end up happily together forever, so it wasn't a complete waste. I hate when movies don't end like that. I'm watching a movie to feel good, not to feel reality! For ex, Prime. I really like that movie, but the ending makes me want to throw myself out a window. Am I supposed to feel good knowing that love isn't enough? I didn't pay for that message. I was paying for you to tell me everyone always ends up happily together forever. Geez!

Anyway, it was a pretty legit weekend full of fun activities and loads of sleep! I feel fully ready to take on the next week and see Drake! Yay for sister wives dates!

New Friends

Friday night the Avengers was out, so you know I bought my reserved ticket for Studio Movie Grill. I have become so accustomed to going to the movies alone that I forget to invite other people (Sorry S+J), so it was a solo date night. The movie was pretty good even though I took a power nap during the final battle. What? It was super late and it felt like it was never going to end!
Reserved - is there any other way?
After the movie (it's past midnight at this point) I walked to where I thought I parked my car but Matilda was no where to be found. I started to panic, but tried to look calm, and headed back towards the theater so I could avoid getting kidnapped and come up with a game plan. All I could come up with was call S+J so I'm not stranded. Then I remembered that I had actually parked in the other garage, so I headed that way. When I got to the top I spotted her. I've never been so relieved to see Matil in my whole life! What was I not so relieved to see? The three shady people hanging out in a vacant spot a few feet away from my car. Obviously I wasn't attacked since I'm writing this, but it did seem very odd. I made it home safe and sound.

Saturday morning I met Laura (new girl from work) at the Farmer's Market. I was so stoked when she invited me because I hadn't been before! Did I need anything? no. But I went anyway. She brought her friend, but I don't remember her name (this just got awkward). We walked around, checked out the veggies, and I bought some macarons. They were pretty good. I really liked the green one (Lilly of the valley) and will def hit them up again!

We had breakfast at Empire Cafe (no, not the hotel owned by Chuck Bass). And in the moment that they delivered my waffle (which looked over cooked - those sneaky cooks!) and I took my first bite, my life was forever changed. It was amazing! Life changing!

They had three paintings in the large dining room. This was by far my fave:
This isn't the one I was facing, but def my fave of the three.
Unfortunately the one that faced me was of a woman dressed like a genie, and I'm pretty sure her nipples were out. Awkward.

After breakfast I headed to the gym and got to chat with Jess for a bit before she left and I headed to BodyPump. Turns out Brian had a sub. ugh. I like this lady alright, but she doesn't play the music loud enough, and I never know what she's saying. I don't know if it's because she is mumbling, talking too fast, or has bad timing with her instructions, but I never know what's going on. And that? irritates me. I finished up with some cardio then headed home.

These last couple of weeks I've designated Saturday night as my cook something new night. Just because I'm cooking for one doesn't mean it's ok to get lazy in the kitchen. This week I pulled out a recipe I had bookmarked from a blog a while back. I don't know what happened, but it wasn't any good. This is probably the second time in my whole life that I've followed a recipe only to have a crap result. I was irritated and resorted to cheese and crackers for my sub in dinner. EFFFFFFF! On the positive side, at least I was only cooking for myself, so no one else will be scarred for life and remember me as a terrible cook, because I'm not. Just so we are clear.

TGIMFingF

Last week was great.

  • I Body Pumped with Jess.
  • Had dinner with Kari, R, and Abbers.
Abbers
  • Ran with Kari (if you could call it that since my legs are basically failing me at this point).
  • Kari stretched and iced me after. I'm so glad she's a personal trainer. I wish she was always there to do that for me!
  • I made the most delicious m&m cookies for my Sunday bake.
  • and then on Friday, this happened:

Friday I had plans to attend Body Flow to get my last dose of Trainer Brian in for the week, but my work day ran long (OMG, working until 5? who does that?) and I had a massive headache, so I went home for a nap instead. My plans were to hit the gym then catch up on some Jersey Shore (super excite, I.Know.). Before I knew it Rick and Kat were here, we were all getting tatted up (I got a tit tat with kit Kat), and we decided to hit up Washington.

We started at Kung Fu (despite mine and Kat's protest), played some ski ball (I may have broke Rick's hand), but ended up at Ei8ht shortly after. Luckily 8 has cycled through and wasn't ghetto this time. It was back to it's former glory! We even met a Paul Rudd look alike, well, if P.Rudd was Italian. It was nice to have Rick with us so he could keep the creepers at bay. But then he left us to find some ladies and the creepers almost kidnapped us. Ok, not that bad this time, but still.

If you try to dance with me and I give you the head shake, please move along. If you then feel the need to ask me if I'll dance with you and I say no, please move along. Do not ask me again. I'm not dtf so you are just wasting your time. Also? I don't want to get molested by your hands. Thanks, but I'm dancing with Kat, so I'm good. One more thing, don't try to talk to me. It's too loud and I don't care what your name is.

I know. I know. WTF is with this girl? It's just that I'm out to have fun with my friends, not some random guy that thinks I'm cute.

Houston cab drivers did us dirty.

Houston cab drivers? WTF is with you? Why don't you know where anything is in Houston. And don't look at me like I'm crazy when I turn on my phone GPS and she tells you where to go.

Overall, we had a great night. I even made pancakes when we got home, and they were delish!

I went to Body Pump Saturday morning and it.was.rough. But surprise, TB was teaching the class! Yay! My whole body was so beat from our 3 hour dance party the night before that I thought I was going to die during squats. Ahhhh!

Monday Jes and I body pumped and she had had her tattoo in the same place I did. And that's why were Noah's ark buddies.

---------------------
How do you keep the creepers away?
